8 Pointed Star Quilt

#2107051

$8,500.00

This is a fabulous quilt from 1821 that is signed and dated by the lady that made it.  It measures 96 x 98" plus it has a 3" strip of handmade lace on each side and the bottom plus an added strip of white linen fabric.  The side strips of linen are 4" wide and the bottom strip is 9" wide.  These were added to have it fit onto a 4 post bed with drops.  This quilt is completely hand pieced and hand quilted with 22 stitches per inch.  This is a museum quality quilt that has some of the best hand quilting we have seen in the 40 + years of buying and selling antique quilts.  It has been appraised by 3 national quilt appraiser and they all agree that they have never seen another quilt of this quality except at the quilt museum in Paducah, KY.     The pink fabric has a printed pattern of small yellow flowers and green leaves but the dyes used for these colors was acidic and this has caused the fabric to deteriorate where these colors were used leaving very small holes in the pink fabric that look like small white flowers but is actually the cotton batting inside the quilt.  The hand quilting on this quilt is extremely dense with the finest quilting at 22  stitches per inch covering the entire surface of this quilt.
