Red Star Quilt

#0203036

$695.00

This is a very old 1880's star quilt. It is red and white and the white pieces are made up of two different patterns. They are white with very tiny feathers or circles and balls, both in black. The back fabric is red with very small white anchors. It is hand pieced and hand quilted with 14 to 16 stitches per inch. The batting is cotton. Overall it is in good condition for its age. There  are 3 red triangles at one end that have some deterioration to the fabric (see pic).  It would appear that these pieces are a silk and cotton blend that was substituted when they ran out of the original 100% cotton red fabric since it was a color match.  The silk in this fabric is starting to shatter.
